Question 7:Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking at both magazines you can clearly see the improvements I have made from my college magazine to my music magazine. I have learnt how to use a range of techniques to edit my images so that the main image doesn't look flat and dull like my college magazine image. By altering this alone it has made my magazine look more professional and the model look flawless. I have learnt techniques that I've used to make my text on my front cover look more professional and appealing to the audience on my music magazine.
As for the colour combination, I have looked at the colour theme for my music magazine in more depth, and I have looked at what colours compliment each other rather than choosing random colours. By researching my colour options further and how this links to my genre, my magazine looks more pleasantly appealing than my college magazine. I have chosen colours that reflect my magazine genre and looked at how the colour can associate my genre in more depth than how I looked into colour for my college magazine.
The research into layout designs has really paid of. I looked at a range of magazine and payed close attention to the set up of the magazines. Looking at my music magazine the layout looks more organised and looks more conventionally like a real magazine. I have also used the spacing and positioning of the context on my music magazine more effectively as there isn't as many gaps as there is on my college magazine.
I have thought more into my text styles on my music magazine than my college magazine, as my music magazine uses more appropriate text styles for my music genre. Also the text is more interesting and appealing on my music magazine than my college magazine as it stands out more and is bolder than the college magazine text.
I have learnt how to use all sorts of tools and techniques from when I started the course to now. When I started the course I knew little about any tools on photoshop and I only knew the basic tools. Now I know how to edit my photos so that I get the best result from them. I know how to change individual sections of an image rather than the image as a whole. I now know how enhance colours and only resonantly figured out how to change text blending options.

Question 4: Who would be the audience for you media product?
For my magazine I decided to aim my target audience to those who are interested in the genre of my music magazine. To appeal to this particular group I researched what my model would be wearing and how they would present themselves on the cover of my magazine. To do this I looked at a range of country music magazines to get the ideal position of my model and clothing she would wear. This was so that this would appear striking to those interested in country music and other people looking at my magazine.
I chose to have a female model on the front of my cover because when I looked at other magazines, I noticed that the female artist Taylor Swift was on most of the. This gave me an idea to choose a female model as it best represents this particular music genre. I also choose a female artist because those who tend to be interested in this style of music, is usually the female gender. As she is female, this would be a better role model as girls, tend to be more mature and positive role models to use. Thus appealing to most female audiences rather than male. I then went on to choose an age I would base my model on. As I wanted to aim my magazine between 18-26 I thought that my model would be between this age range so that my audience would be able to relate to the context of the magazine and the role model. Usually teenage girls look up to people of this age group as a role model to themselves. From doing this research I was able to predict the type of person to read my magazine. To help me pick the right conventions and features I created a reader profile.
Before constructing and designing my magazine I decided to create a reader profile so that I could base my magazine on this type of person. Looking at research, as country music isnt a popular genre magazine, I decided to look at magazines outside the UK and see what context and look at who they aim there magazine at. I also looked at prices and other conventions and features they used in there magazines. With this knowledge I made an ideal person to read this magazine based on this research.
Public Survey for my magazine for feedback on my products:
Question 1) What Genre do you think my magazine represents?
Question 2 ) What type of audience do you think this magazine is aimed at?
Question 3) What is the first thing you are drawn to on my front cover?
Question 4) If you could change anything on any of my products, what would you change?
Question 5)Does my housestyle match throughout all three of my products? If so state how?
Question 6) What is your responce to the colour theme used?
Question 7) What would you rate my magazine from 1-10? (1 being the worse, 10 being the
best)
Looking at the results from my survey, the colour of my text needs tweaking if I was to improve my magazine based on my survey results. Also I would also consider looking at the colour theme of my magazine as I have used a lot of colour for all of my products. Conventionally from looking at the results, it suggests that my magazine looks like a real magazine.
Looking the rating for my magazine, the results show that my magazine would be fairly successful if released to the public market. With few errors, if I was to alter these I would expect my magazine to be rated above 8.

Media Products Before Final Changes
Looking at all my products as a whole, I think that I need to make some adjustments to my products so that they belong within the same magazine. The colour theme is different on some of my products so I think by adjusting this and choosing three prominent colours to use as my colour theme throughout all the products. I may adjust some of the text on contents and front page so that artist names stand out front the rest of the page.
Looking at my front page cover, I am going to change the picture I have used because looking at it now, it looks faded and not as good quality as my other images on my other products. I am mainly going to focus my attention on my front cover as I don't think it is as good as my other two products.
On my DPS I am going to look at the text at the top of the page that includes my title, I am going to change the font and maybe adjust the settings on the text so that my artists name appears bolder than the rest of the article.
On my contents page, I am going to make the quote stand out more, with my artists name, to make this stand out more and grab the audiences attention. I am also going to make the page number or page subjects more vibrant to stand out from the information.
How I Designed My DPS
After that, at the bottom right side of the page i added a follow/info box so that people could get in touch with my magazine (36). I then imported popular social media icons next to it so that if readers didn't want to read the information box, they would be able to associate with the icons what the information is about and where to get in touch (36).
Looking at my model, the last thing I thought to change/enhance was the colour of her hair. To do this I simply used the same technique of changing the colour of the t-shirt, skin and lips, I added another colour layer that was darker than my models hair colour (31,32). Next I rubbed out the colour, changed the blend option to overlay and changed the opacity of it faintly, so that this then enhanced the colour of my models hair (33,34). After modifying my model I then decided at looking at the construction of my DPS. I liked the draft that I made for my DPS as I thought that the design would link well with my contents page. I simply copied my model layer onto my draft construction and removed the dummy image I had in place (35).
Next I then changed the opacity of the colour so that it blended in with the blue coloured areas on the t-shirt (26). After this I wanted to make my models lips look pinker and more visible as the lips appeared to look faded. To do this I created another solid colour layer, and choose a colour that I thought was similar to my models and then changed it so it was brighter (27). I then changed the blending option to overlay so that this was then merged into my models image (28). Next I rubbed out all of the layer except where the lips where on my model (29), and then changed the opacity of the colour so that it blended nicely onto my models lips (30).
Next I did the same for the other eye so that both eyes where blue (21,22). After this I wanted to make the t-shirt that my model was wearing a more prominent blue. To do this I used a solid colour layer and chose a vibrant blue tone (23), and then changed the blend tool to overlay so that the colour was then blended and on top of my model layer (24). Then I used the eraser tool to remove the colour from the areas I didn't want it (25).
Next I then did the same process but to the other eye (16). Finishing the lashes off by rubbing out, using a fine hardness, and rubbing the end of the lashes out. This then made the lashes look more natural and not too pixelated (17). I then went on to change the colour of the eyes so that they looked more blue and defined. To do this I used the same steps as how I learnt how to do this using the you tube clip that I researched. I used the path tool to draw round the eye colour (18) and used the curve tool to increase the blue tones in the eye (19). To make the eyes look natural I used the burn tool around the eye and made the pupil look clearer as it became faded when I edited it (20).
Next I changed the blend tool to overlay so that the colour would go over the top of my model layer, making her look browny orange (11). I then used the brush tool to remove the colour around my model, leaving only the skin with the colour layer on (12). After I decreased the opacity so that the colour would look more natural and not look too orange (13). I wanted to make my models eye lashes more defined and longer so that there more noticeable. To do this I duplicated the original layer, so that I could the draw on it. Then I used the brush tool and set it so that the brush width was 1 pixel and the hardness was on 100%. Lastly I then began to draw the individual lashes onto the eye (15).
After that I created a new layer and arranged it behind my model image layer (6). Next i went round the outside of my model, removing the background of the image (7). To make sure that where I rubbed out the background around my model was neat, I zoomed in closer and used a smaller brush (8). Next I used the heal tool to make my model's skin look soft and not bumpy (9). After that I created a solid colour of a pail browny colour, go over the top of my model's skin tone (10)
To design my double page spread (DPS), I opened the image that I wanted to use for the front of it (1). Next I cropped the outside of the image so that the model took up the image (2). I then adjusted the levels so that the image didn't look faded and so that she had natural colour in her (3). Next I used the liguify tool to make my model smaller and more in proportion (4). I then used the used the warp tool to adjust around her (5).
Draft Double Page Spread 1
I may add a few changes to the text as I find the text a little plain and doesn't stand out very much. I may also see what the quote looks like if I was to have it going around my model. I also need to add my article as the text inserted is a template.

How I Designed My Contents Page

After I filled in some information for underneath each caption with the page number and what features in it. A small bit of writing of what is included in that particular section. On the 2nd of February I got the opportunity to go to one of Taylor Swifts concerts at the O2 so there I took a photo of the venue so that I could feature it on my contents page. I then added it to my cover and adjusted it so that it fitted in the pink box.

I then changed the blend too on the solid colour layer, and then began to rub out out everything but the t-shirt I wanted to make look a deeper blue. Next I changed the capacity so that the blue looked brighter and more vibrant. I had an idea to make the background of my contents page to be of clouds, I tried to do this manually by making my own clouds with brush tool but I found this affect to not look very good. Instead I opened up an image in my files and looked for a landscape image that had a lot of clouds present. I then used the select tool, copied a section if it and then dragged it behind my model. Then I added the draft text from the draft I wanted to used and moved it onto the top of my model.

Using the burn tool, I adjusted the settings too 8 in size and 35% hardness (36), I went round the edge of the eye to soften the edges of the colour adjusted eye. To make the pupil look more noticeable and darker, as the adjustment made it appear paler, I went to Match Colour and changed the luminance and colour intensity (37). I then did the same steps to the right eye (38). After that I then used the burn tool again to add to the dark eye shadow and to make it smother and more defined (39). For the next shoots I'm going to change the colour of the t-shirt, in (40) I added a solid colour over the top that I wanted to change the colour of the shirt too.
After doing the lashes on the left eye I then proceed to do the same to the right eye (31). After that, I then duplicated the original layer again and drew around the eye with the path tool (33). I then pressed right click, make selection and changed the pixel to 2 (34). Next to went to adjustments, then levels, and adjusted the blue levels. By increasing it like in the picture above (35), the eye colour appeared more of a vibrant blue colour.
Next I decided to make my models eye lashes more defined and noticeable. To do this I duplicated the original layer so that I was able to edited on top of the image (26). I then choice a brush diameter of 1 pixel (27, I then changed the hardness to 100 so that it would be a solid line (28). Next I zoomed in on the drawing and started to draw the eyelashes in (29). Lastly to make the eye lashes more natural and not look pixelated I used the eraser tool on a low hardness and rubbed around the top of the lashes and the middle of the eye (30).

Using the same steps I added pink colour layer for the lips of the model, as you can see in the steps above.

I changed the order of layers so that the solid colour was on top of all the layers, I then changed the blending option to overlay (16). I then began to rub out the colour everywhere except the skin that was on show (17). I zoomed in closer to make sure that non of the colour was on the t-shirt (18). Next I zoomed on the face and removed the colour from the eyes and lips so that the layer didn't discolor the eyes or lips (19). After that I changed the opacity so that it didn't look too dark and gave her a more natural tone (20).
After that I then selected just the guitar by using the quick select tool (11). I then copied this as a new layer so that I was able to only edit the selected guitar without changing my model (12). Next I went to layer - adjustments and then selected levels. I changed the levels so that the guitar appeared the same colour as the guitar on the front of the cover of my magazine (14). Then I decided I wanted to change the colour of my models skin. To do this I added a solid colour layer and chose a suitable colour (15).
After adjusting my model I then used the levels so that she didn't look grey, as this made the colours look stronger in the image (6). After that I added a new layer and unlocked the layer I was editing my model on (7). By doing this I was able to rub out the background (9). I then zoomed in close to get the background around my model and fingers (10).
First of all I opened the image I wanted to use for my contents page. I decided to use the liquefy tool to make make her look smaller against the guitar I was using (2). I then saved this and reopened the images again. Next I put the original image behind the edited image. By doing this I was able to rub out the face of the edited image. As I didn't like the edited models face as the tool make her look slightly deformed. (3,4,5).
