Media Products Before Final Changes

Looking at all my products as a whole, I think that I need to make some adjustments to my products so that they belong within the same magazine. The colour theme is different on some of my products so I think by adjusting this and choosing three prominent colours to use as my colour theme throughout all the products. I may adjust some of the text on contents and front page so that artist names stand out front the rest of the page.
Looking at my front page cover, I am going to change the picture I have used because looking at it now, it looks faded and not as good quality as my other images on my other products. I am mainly going to focus my attention on my front cover as I don't think it is as good as my other two products.
On my DPS I am going to look at the text at the top of the page that includes my title, I am going to change the font and maybe adjust the settings on the text so that my artists name appears bolder than the rest of the article.
On my contents page, I am going to make the quote stand out more, with my artists name, to make this stand out more and grab the audiences attention. I am also going to make the page number or page subjects more vibrant to stand out from the information.

How I Designed My DPS

After that, at the bottom right side of the page i added a follow/info box so that people could get in touch with my magazine (36). I then imported popular social media icons next to it so that if readers didn't want to read the information box, they would be able to associate with the icons what the information is about and where to get in touch (36).

Looking at my model, the last thing I thought to change/enhance was the colour of her hair. To do this I simply used the same technique of changing the colour of the t-shirt, skin and lips, I added another colour layer that was darker than my models hair colour (31,32). Next I rubbed out the colour, changed the blend option to overlay and changed the opacity of it faintly, so that this then enhanced the colour of my models hair (33,34). After modifying my model I then decided at looking at the construction of my DPS. I liked the draft that I made for my DPS as I thought that the design would link well with my contents page. I simply copied my model layer onto my draft construction and removed the dummy image I had in place (35).

Next I then changed the opacity of the colour so that it blended in with the blue coloured areas on the t-shirt (26). After this I wanted to make my models lips look pinker and more visible as the lips appeared to look faded. To do this I created another solid colour layer, and choose a colour that I thought was similar to my models and then changed it so it was brighter (27). I then changed the blending option to overlay so that this was then merged into my models image (28). Next I rubbed out all of the layer except where the lips where on my model (29), and then changed the opacity of the colour so that it blended nicely onto my models lips (30).

Next I did the same for the other eye so that both eyes where blue (21,22). After this I wanted to make the t-shirt that my model was wearing a more prominent blue. To do this I used a solid colour layer and chose a vibrant blue tone (23), and then changed the blend tool to overlay so that the colour was then blended and on top of my model layer (24). Then I used the eraser tool to remove the colour from the areas I didn't want it (25).

Next I then did the same process but to the other eye (16). Finishing the lashes off by rubbing out, using a fine hardness, and rubbing the end of the lashes out. This then made the lashes look more natural and not too pixelated (17). I then went on to change the colour of the eyes so that they looked more blue and defined. To do this I used the same steps as how I learnt how to do this using the you tube clip that I researched. I used the path tool to draw round the eye colour (18) and used the curve tool to increase the blue tones in the eye (19). To make the eyes look natural I used the burn tool around the eye and made the pupil look clearer as it became faded when I edited it (20).

Next I changed the blend tool to overlay so that the colour would go over the top of my model layer, making her look browny orange (11). I then used the brush tool to remove the colour around my model, leaving only the skin with the colour layer on (12). After I decreased the opacity so that the colour would look more natural and not look too orange (13). I wanted to make my models eye lashes more defined and longer so that there more noticeable. To do this I duplicated the original layer, so that I could the draw on it. Then I used the brush tool and set it so that the brush width was 1 pixel and the hardness was on 100%. Lastly I then began to draw the individual lashes onto the eye (15).

After that I created a new layer and arranged it behind my model image layer (6). Next i went round the outside of my model, removing the background of the image (7). To make sure that where I rubbed out the background around my model was neat, I zoomed in closer and used a smaller brush (8). Next I used the heal tool to make my model's skin look soft and not bumpy (9). After that I created a solid colour of a pail browny colour, go over the top of my model's skin tone (10)

To design my double page spread (DPS), I opened the image that I wanted to use for the front of it (1). Next I cropped the outside of the image so that the model took up the image (2). I then adjusted the levels so that the image didn't look faded and so that she had natural colour in her (3). Next I used the liguify tool to make my model smaller and more in proportion (4). I then used the used the warp tool to adjust around her (5).

Draft Double Page Spread 1

I may add a few changes to the text as I find the text a little plain and doesn't stand out very much. I may also see what the quote looks like if I was to have it going around my model. I also need to add my article as the text inserted is a template.
